Entry Requirements:

SA Farming College aims to make agricultural education accessible to as many people as possible. Our courses are designed to be flexible and suitable for students from a variety of backgrounds.

To enrol in most of our courses, you should have:

🌐 Ability to Understand English

Course materials are primarily presented in English. Students should be able to read and understand English at a basic level. Translation tools may assist students where needed.

💻 Access to a Device

You will need access to a laptop, desktop computer, tablet, or smartphone to access the online learning platform and course materials.

📶 Internet Access

A stable internet connection is required to access lessons, download materials, and complete assessments.

🌱 Willingness to Learn

A positive attitude and commitment to learning are the most important requirements for success in your studies.

Good to know: Many of our students come from a wide range of educational and professional backgrounds. Even if you do not have formal agricultural training, you are welcome to apply and start building your knowledge in agriculture.

Some specialised or national qualification programmes may have additional entry requirements, which will be listed on the relevant course page.

Recognition of Prior Learning:

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows individuals with existing knowledge or experience in agriculture to have their skills formally recognised.

If you have previously worked on a farm or gained practical agricultural experience, you may already possess valuable skills and knowledge that can contribute towards a qualification.

RPL is a process that evaluates the knowledge and skills you have gained through work experience, informal training, or previous learning. This experience may be assessed and recognised as part of your learning pathway.

🚜 Who Can Apply for RPL?

RPL may be suitable for individuals who have practical farming experience but do not yet have formal agricultural qualifications.

📋 How the Process Works

The RPL process may involve submitting evidence of your experience, completing assessments, or demonstrating your knowledge and skills in specific areas of agriculture.

Important: RPL is assessed according to the requirements of the relevant qualification and applicable regulatory standards. Eligibility and assessment processes may vary depending on the programme.

How long is each session?

It depends on how much time you are willing to spend learning. The Credit value gives you an indication of how long the course is.

1 Credit = 10 Learning Hours of which 3 is theoretical. Thus the theory on a 3 Credit course should take you 9 hours to master.

Can I pay it off?

Yes, our course is structured so that you can pay per module.

Can I upgrade to the National Certificate/QCTO qualification at anytime?

Yes you can, if you have completed our short courses we will give you the credits so that you don’t have to redo the course. Saving you time and money.

How often are new lessons added?

We add new courses if the need arises. If you want to do a course on a specific subject, feel free to send us a development request. We will find the expert and develop the course if there is enough interest.

Are there any prerequisites?

Only for the qualifications, you need Grade 12/Matric to achieve the National Certificate. For the short courses, you need to be able to read and write in English and do basic maths.
